Policies & Procedures
Our Mission is to provide a warm, nurturing, child centered and family oriented environment where your child will enjoy the process of
learning to dance as well as the preparation, practice and performance. The skills and confidence acquired during this process will carry over
to all aspects of life. In order to offer all students and their families an organized, safe, friendly and positive experience, we strictly enforce
our policies. Please review these policies with your child to be sure DCDC is the right place for you.

Placement Philosophy…As our new season begins, we will be evaluating the
technical skills of each student to assess their level of proficiency and place them
accordingly. We believe every student should be challenged without being
overwhelmed. Our professional expertise in these matters will assure maximum
progress and enjoyment of the class for everyone.
Regular Attendance is important to the progression of the entire class. Interest is
kept when there is progress and development. Irregular attendance slows both.
Please Be Prompt… Be Prepared … Practice… You are an important part of your
Dance Team. Make-Up Classes are available with any class of the same level,
any time there is an absence or extra help is needed.
Holidays/Snow/Emergency Closings... We follow Montgomery County Public
Schools and After School Activities Emergency Closings. We do not cancel class
for every MCPS holiday. Please see the “Calendar of Events” for more
information. We will notify you at least one week in advance of any additional
class cancellations/changes. Call DCDC at 301-840-8400 or visit
www.dcdcDance.com for any additional announcements.
Participation in any age appropriate Dance Experience, Activity or Performance
is open to every student and is absolutely optional. You are under no obligation to
join us. If you do choose to participate in performances and you or your child
expects to perform, please be aware that teachers expect regular class
attendance and all Rehearsals and Performances are mandatory
Uniforms…Uniform leotard, tights and shoes prepare us for dance class and help
us look and feel like a team. Students are expected to arrive neat and clean with
hair pulled up and off their face. Please be sure to check the “Uniform Order
Form” for style numbers and colors needed for your specific class before you
make any purchases. All Full Program students are expected to be in uniform by
October 1. There are no uniform requirements for students enrolled in 8 week
Sessions or Adult classes.
Respect and Consideration of others and their property is expected.

Safety...Unsupervised Children are not allowed in the lobby, nor are they allowed
to leave the building or wait outside alone. Please take care that siblings are under
your direct control at all times. Inappropriate behavior by any child should be
brought to the attention of the child, parent or management. Please do not allow
anyone to sit or stand on the top of the bench and/or climb, play on or near the
plate glass windows or blinds. This is an invitation to an accident and safety is of
prime importance to us.
Please do not enter the studios when classes are in progress. We do not want
to disturb teachers and students.
Street Shoes are not allowed in the studio. Any type of shoe...dance or
otherwise... that has been worn outside brings grit, grime and dirt onto our floors
that have recently been refinished. This policy will be strictly enforced.
In Consideration of Everyone who uses this space, only plain bottled water may
be consumed on the premises. No other Sugary or Sticky Water, Food, Drinks,
Gum or Candy or Snacks are allowed. Your Cooperation is expected and
appreciated. Thank you for your efforts to help us maintain a safe, neat and tidy
area for all to work and enjoy.
Office Hours are Monday–Friday 2:00 to 7:00 pm. We are available in person, by
phone, 301-840-8400, or email. If you should reach our answering service at any
time, please leave a message. All phone calls and emails will be returned within
24 hours or the next business day.
Communication is the key to any relationship and we certainly want our
relationship with you to be warm and supportive. We will keep you current on
activities and opportunities by email. If this is not convenient for you, please let us
know and we’ll seek alternative methods. Handouts may sent home with students
and information is available on our web site www.dcdcDance.com. Questions or
comments for anyone on staff may be sent to info@dcdcDance.com and will be
forwarded to the appropriate party. Please do not hesitate to contact us. We want
to be certain you are comfortable, informed and up to date at all times.
